While the turf is complete at the Great Bend Sports Complex, the City of Great Bend is now looking to make repairs to multiple metal roofs at the facility that were damaged during past windstorms. The metal paneling over the press box and bleachers on three of the four fields will receive repairs.

Director Scott Keeler said the damage was minor and cosmetic initially, but this month’s
windstorm caused more significant harm.
"I've been working with Andrew Frizzell from Roofmasters," said Keeler. "He was the original project manager for the complex so he has a good understanding of it. We tried over the past year to get bids for repairs out there. Recently, materials became more available and we put it out for bid again."
Roofmasters Roofing & Sheet Metal, from Hays, submitted a bid for $71,148 that was approved by the Great Bend City Council. Insurance proceeds will cover the expense.
Keeler said Roofmasters expects to begin on the project this winter.
