On Friday, July 17, at approximately 5:26 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford F-150 pickup in the 100 block of 10th Street in Great Bend. The driver of the vehicle was found to have a no-bond probation violation warrant for his arrest through Barton County District Court. Barton County Sheriff's deputies responded to the traffic stop to assist, at which time BTSO K-9 Menta was deployed and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.
A search of the pickup yielded 21 grams of methamphetamine, five grams of mushrooms, a firearm, brass knuckles, and a large sum of U.S. currency. Great Bend police investigators and officers secured a search warrant for a residence located in the 1000 block of Frey Street in Great Bend. During a thorough search of the residence, illegal explosives were located inside. Members of the Wichita Bomb Squad responded to process and collect the explosive devices.
Roosevelt Tyree Henderson IV, 38, was arrested and transported to the Barton County Detention Center on charges of Distribution of Controlled Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of a Hallucinogenic Drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Drug Tax Stamp, Criminal Possession of Explosives and Probation Violation.
