The Great Bend Lady Panthers swept the double header against Garden City yesterday, securing their second WAC Championship in a row. The Lady Panthers won game one of the double header 13-3 in five innings, before a tougher win in game two 12-6, that was 9-6 before a three-run home run from Chayla Prendergast gave the Panthers their final cushion. Prendergast also earned the win as the starter in game one, and got a six-out save in game 2.
The Lady Panthers are 21-1 with their lone loss being a 3-1 loss to 6A Derby, the number 1 team in Kansas regardless of classification. Great Bend is ranked as the number 1 team in 5A.
