The usual poker run includes several stops over a sizable geographic region. Hoisington's Labor Day Poker Run on Saturday, Sept. 3, will feature seven stops within the city limits, but the ride gets a little sweeter this year as GTR Limousine & Party Services is offering up its party bus at a low cost to players.
"It will be an additional $5 to do this," said Hoisington Chamber Director Karen Baldyga. "What was $25 to do the poker run, for an extra five you get to have the party bus, and you don't have to worry about driving at all. You can stop in, have a couple of drinks, have something to eat, move on to the next place, try your skills at the next location, and see what cards you get."
The poker run stays local to promote area businesses. This year's run is from 1 to 4 p.m. with a starting point at Clara Barton Hospital. Other stops include Cardinal Lanes, Duck Blind, Mi Tierra Restaurant, the American Legion, Tap Room, and Knights of Columbus. The party bus will also be available Saturday evening for a small fee.
"They're going to be here that evening for class reunions as well," Baldyga said. "If people want to hop from one class reunion to the next, they can hop on the party bus."
First place for this year's poker run is a one-night stay at the Rodeway Inn & Suites Jacuzzi Suite and $100 Chamberbucks. Second place is a Braven Bluetooth Speaker and $25 gift certificate to The Page. Third place is a $25 gift certificate to Perkins Restuarant and a $10 Dairy Queen Gift Certificate.
