
On Aug. 14, at approximately 10:35 p.m., officers with
the Great Bend Police Department conducted a traffic stop near 2500 block of
Railroad Avenue for a traffic infraction. During the traffic stop, K9 Menta was
deployed to conduct a free air sniff, where she alerted to the presence of
illegal narcotics.
While searching the vehicle, officers located approximately 37 grams of a
methamphetamine/fentanyl mix, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver
of the vehicle, John Wilkinson, age 60, was placed under arrest for
distribution of methamphetamine/fentanyl, possession of marijuana and
possession of drug paraphernalia. Wilkinson was transported to the Barton
County Jail where he was booked in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
On Aug. 15, at approximately 3:52 a.m., officers served a search warrant in the
700 block of Jefferson Street based on the previous traffic stop. Located
during the search warrant was methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
