
Action from the Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Barton County Commission agenda meeting:
APPROVAL OF APPROPRIATIONS: -An Accounts Payable Register was ratified for the period of November 9, 2022, and ending November 23, 2022.
NEW BUSINESS - ROAD AND BRIDGE: Ratify Repair of 2008 Ford F-350: -Darren Williams, County Works Director, provided details. Mr. Williams initiated the repair of a 2008 Ford F-350 at Bob’s Service Center. The total cost for repairs was $5,715.89. The Commission ratified that expenditure.
COUNTY ENGINEER: Off-System Bridge 297 Deck Replacement: -Matt Patzner, Operations Director, will present details. Bids were opened on November 14, 2022, for the replacement of the failing bridge deck on Off-System Bridge 297. The bridge is located on NE 70 Road, west of NE 150 Avenue and crossing Cow Creek. Two bids were received, with L&M Contractors, Inc. of Great Bend having the low bid of $168,697.50. The bid was awarded.
TWENTIETH JUDICIAL DISTRICT: District Coroner – Appointment: -Mr. Patzner will provide details. In accordance with the Kansas Statutes Annotated, Chapter 22a, the Board of County Commissioners of the County with the largest population in a Judicial District is to appoint a District Coroner to serve a four-year term. Dr. Patrick Stiles was appointed to the 2023 – 2026 term.
OCCUPANCY AGREEMENT: 12th and Kansas, Great Bend: -Mr. Patzner will provide details. As a means of community support, the State of Kansas Parole office is housed in the County office building at 1208 Kansas, Great Bend. This agency reimburses Barton County for a portion of the building’s utility costs. This item was tabled.
Commissioner Barb Esfeld will attend the Kansas National Resource Coalition meeting in Dodge City.
