The No. 18 ranked Barton Community College volleyball team served up its third straight Jayhawk Conference sweep Wednesday night, defeating Garden City Community College (25-18, 25-18, 25-8) inside Conestoga Arena.
The victory improves the Cougars to 4-2 in conference play and 14-7 overall while the Broncbusters slide to 2-4 in league play and 4-11 on the season. Barton will have the weekend off before closing out the two-game road trip next Wednesday, traveling to Hutchinson Community College for a 6:00 p.m. first serve against the receiving-votes Blue Dragons inside the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Barton controlled the night on both sides of the net, finishing with 39 kills against just nine errors on 98 swings for a .306 attack while limiting Garden City to a .030 hitting percentage. The Cougars put the match away with their strongest defensive effort in the third, holding the Broncbusters to three kills against 13 errors and a -.303 attack in closing out the sweep with a 25-8 final frame.
Kiera Loe paced the Barton attack with a match-high 14 kills on .406 hitting, committing just one error on 32 swings while adding two service aces, seven digs and seven block assists. Ana Fabiely Fachi helped lead the Cougars' presence at the net, recording one solo block and 10 block assists.
Amanda Riepe added seven kills on a .312 attack while leading the Cougars with 16 digs. Irmak Navruz followed with six kills on .286 hitting while Brylynn Wicker put down five kills against just one error on nine swings for a .444 attack.
Running the offense, Mileah Neal dished out 14 assists while Natalia Nowak added 12 assists to go along with eight digs. Defensively, Jaden Katsis followed Riepe with 15 digs as the Cougars finished with 55 as a team.
