On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Great Bend Public Schools will join schools nationwide in observing Unity Day—a day dedicated to standing against bullying and fostering kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Unity Day, launched by the National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011, is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. The call to action is simple: wear and share orange. This vibrant show of unity sparks conversations, supports students who have been bullied, and raises awareness for bullying prevention.
Students, staff, and community members are invited to participate by wearing orange or ordering a Unity Day t-shirt at unityday25.itemorder.com. Together, Great Bend will send a strong message of hope and support for students and families.
“Unity Day makes a visible statement - we stand together against bullying,” said Kayla Meadows, GBHS counselor. “When we wear orange, we are saying to every child: you are not alone, you matter, and our community stands behind you.”
Great Bend Public Schools also invites businesses and organizations to join by displaying orange, encouraging employees to wear orange, and sharing photos on social media with #UnityEveryDay and #letsbebetterhumans.
