Great Bend’s Jadynce Jean performed on the big stage at last year’s Hoisington Annual Labor Day Celebration, opening for Homebrew at the Sunday night Street Dance. As Jean’s musical career continues to grow, so does her stage. She returns to this year’s Labor Day Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 5.
“This year, what’s exciting is she’s coming with her band,” said Hoisington Chamber Director Karen Baldyga. “They’re coming all the way from Nashville, and they will be playing a nice, free concert to give back to the community and celebrate our 130th anniversary.”
The free show begins at 8 p.m. that Saturday night at the Knights of Columbus. The Knights will also be hosting a beer garden, and the carnival will be open from 6-10 p.m. that evening.
The music will cap a big day of events at the 130th Annual Labor Day Celebration. The Hoisington Market Square will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. downtown, with live music, food trucks, drink vendors, kids’ activities, and more. The cornhole tournament will take place at the city building starting on noon Saturday, and the Dragging Main event will run from 6-8 p.m. that evening.
This year’s Labor Day Celebration kicks off Friday, Sept. 4 with the Community BBQ and Beer Garden, presented by Superior Essex. The meal will take place from 5-7 p.m., and the beer garden will go an additional two hours until 9 p.m. at the Kaiser’ lot north of the football stadium. The carnival will run downtown from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and from noon to 10 p.m. on Labor Day with a short break from 5-6 p.m.
