Norma Colleen Herren, 90, passed away January 2, 2022, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. She was born on February 11, 1931, at Enid, Okla. to Herman W. & Addie Irene (Ward) Cofer. She married Charles R. Herren on November 20, 1954 at Great Bend.

A longtime Great Bend resident, Norma was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Great Bend. Norma enjoyed square dancing in her younger days, painting, crafting and writing short stories about her childhood for her family to read. She enjoyed traveling, having taken 19 bus tours, her favorite being Alaska and Nova Scotia. She loved music, whether it was listening to the radio or playing her keyboard.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Herren of the home; two sons, William Herren and wife Delores of Middletown, Pa., and Jim Herren and wife Michelle of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Arlana Staab and husband Michael of Great Bend; a sister, Francelle Huffman of Baldwin City; a half brother, Larry Cofer and a half-sister, Julia McCloskey of Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Staab and wife Audra of St. George, Jeremy Staab of Kingfisher, Okla., Amanda Staab of Great Bend, Andrew Herren and Kayla Herren of Las Vegas, NV, John Herren of Rapid City, SD, and Phyllicia Bishop of Mount Joy, Pa; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a half brother, Ronald Cofer.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. Private Family Services will be held Monday, January, 10, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to the Brain Injury Association of Kansas or Alzheimer's Association, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
