Boil water advisory continues in Great Bend pending final lab results

Posted Dec 05, 2024 2:16 AM

From the city of Great Bend...

As of this evening, we are still awaiting the finalization of the lab results. Although we have been informed that the test is currently being analyzed, we have not yet received a determination. Once the results are finalized, we will notify the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). Only KDHE has the authority to lift the advisory. We will continue to keep the public informed of any further developments.

Please continue to follow KDHE recommendations as outlined below:

  1. Boil water for one minute before drinking or using it for food preparation or use bottled water.
  2. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.
  3. If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears.
  4. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water containing one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
  5. Water used for bathing generally does not need to be boiled. Supervise children while bathing to ensure they do not ingest water. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
