All denominations coming together for the greater good. That's the purpose behind the Ellinwood Area Churches Ministerial Alliance. The largest fundraiser for the Alliance each year is the Community Soup Supper. Pastor Samuel Ryan with Ellinwood Community Church said the annual supper is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. The food bank is always a focal point of the Alliance.

"A lot of those proceeds are going to our different ministries in the community," he said. "In regards to the food bank, it helps a lot of families and individuals in the Ellinwood area. We want to continue to be able to support them with the proceeds."

The soup supper will take place at the St. Joseph Parish Center, 110 W. 2nd Street in Ellinwood, and will feature chili or chicken noodles and a homemade dessert for a free-will donation.

The Knights of Columbus will host its Soup Sampler on Sunday, Jan. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Parish Center. For a free-will offering, attendees can try a variety of soups and get a dessert and drink. Dine-in and carry-out options are available. Proceeds support Knights of Columbus scholarships.
