The Great Bend Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, March 26, to welcome Los Compadres Mexican Store and Restaurant as a new Chamber member. Although the business has been part of Great Bend for many years, the event offered an opportunity to recognize their long‑standing presence and continued service to the community.
Los Compadres is owned by Jaime and Maria Santana, who have operated the business for 24 years. Their daughters are also involved in daily operations, making it a true family‑run establishment. They have bilingual staff most days, which helps make communication easy for those who stop in.
Located at 1516 7th Street in Great Bend, the store features fresh preservative free flour tortillas made daily and sold by the dozen, while their freshly made corn tortillas are sold by the pound. They also operate a bakery that offers bread for sandwiches as well as traditional pastry breads such as pan dulce. The store also carries a selection of authentic Mexican treats, including cookies, candy, and sodas. On Saturdays, customers can enjoy fresh chicharrones.
Whether you’re picking up ingredients to cook at home or stopping in for a plate of authentic Mexican comfort food, Los Compadres offers something for everyone. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
