Richard A. Cramer, age 83 years, of Great Bend and formerly of Hill City, passed away on Friday morning, Aug. 26, 2022 at the University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus. Richard was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Omaha, Neb. to Donald T. and Elinor A. (Sprieck) Cramer. He was united in marriage to Mary L. Kreuzburg on June 17, 1962 in Hiawatha. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran, and worked as city manager for the city of Hiawatha for two years, and then as city manager for the city of Hill City for 14 years. He was also a self-employed auctioneer, and did many benefit auctions over the years. Richard had served as Chairman of the Little Britches Rodeo and also the Jayhawker Roundup Rodeo in Hill City for many years. He was a 60-year member of Hiawatha Masonic Lodge No. 35 A.F. & A.M. at Hiawatha and a member of the First Christian Church at Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Cramer of Great Bend; two sons: Troy (& Dawn) Cramer of Salina, and Travis L. (& Janae) Cramer of Bennington; one daughter, Tiffany (& Taylor) Jones of Manhattan; seven grandchildren: Taylor, Jacob, and Trevor Cramer, McKenzie and Malory Cramer, Levi and Hunter Jones. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Cramer.
Cremation has been chosen. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Great Bend with Pastor Joshua Leu officiating. The family requests that Memorial Contributions be designated to either the First Christian Church at Great Bend or the Jayhawker Roundup Rodeo at Hill City with Charter Funerals of Great Bend in charge.
