The Chairwoman of the Pawnee County Board of County Commissioners declared that the burn ban in Pawnee County be lifted as of 1 p.m. Monday, May 23 and remain lifted until further notice.
Even though the ban is being lifted, Pawnee County strongly urges landowners that have a requirement to conduct controlled burns of a larger scale to contact their local fire chief to discuss methods and weather considerations as an item of preparation prior to conducting a burn.
Pawnee County recommends property owners that live within the city limits in the county to become familiar with ordinances dealing with burning as applicable before they light fires of any type.
Please be aware of changing weather as temperature and wind can create conditions favorable for destructive fires even in high moisture environments.
