The 9th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team clinched its second straight outright KJCCC title concluding the regular season Saturday afternoon with a sweep at Cloud County Community College (25-14, 25-20, 25-13).
In the victory Barton picked up its 12th conference and 23rd sweep of the year concluding the regular season slate at 15-1 in league play and 28-2 on the season. Cloud County ends the year 0-16 in the KJCCC and 7-23 overall.
Up next is the Region 6/Plains District Tournament with the Cougars' first round matchup coming Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. hosting 8th seeded Pratt Community College. A Barton victory would continue the Cougars' hosting privilege for a 4:00 p.m. Saturday contest in the semifinal round against the winner of Garden City at Butler.
Eleven players hit the court for the Cougars producing a .256 attack and 11 service aces. Setters Elena Stankovic and Maurin Reyes keying the offense with 16 and 15 assists, along with, 2 and 3 aces respectively.
Phoebe Reyes' 9 kills led the team, Naya Danenberg next with 7 kills and two aces. Kassidy Nixon had 6 kills and a team tying 3 aces with Anna Wierzbicki also recording 6 kills and a team leading 2 blocks.
All players additionally contributed on the defensive end of the court being led by Mina Kaneko's 12 digs.
