Emergency crews, county and city personnel and construction companies are plenty busy in the Great Bend area after Sunday evening’s storm that produced strong winds and hail. Another busy entity are insurance companies as residents are figuring out how to financially respond to the damage.
Chris Ramsey,
with Shelter Insurance in Great Bend, said the first thing citizens need to do is
protect their property…cover broken windows and roof damage.
"I always suggest taking photos so when the adjusters can get out there, they can see what was on the roof or what caused that damage," said Ramsey. "Be patient. We understand that this is some of your most-prized possessions next to your family members, but we'll get to you as soon as we can to make things right with you."
Ramsey said to call the 1-800 phone numbers that your insurance provider has to
get a claim filed. Most insurance companies need a certain amount of claims
before they send out “catastrophe team” to the area. If the providers reach
that catastrophe level, then they will send more adjusters to the area.
