The 14th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team bounced back from a two-game slide in a bend-don't-break performance Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex earning a 2-0 victory over Garden City Community College.
Snapping the streak coming to the hands of ranked opponents, Barton improves to 2-3-0 in the KJCCC and 6-3-0 overall while dropping Garden City to 0-3-2 in league and 4-3-2 on the season.
Continuing in its five-game homestand stretch, Barton's next opponent comes Wednesday against Seward County followed by Saturday's hosting of Dodge City. Kick-off slated for 1:00 p.m. for both contests.
Gonzalo Bassa accounted for both Cougar goals, distributing the first to Joaquin Pico Abedul with just 23 seconds left in the opening stanza giving Barton momentum into the halftime stoppage.
Bassa provided a much-needed insurance goal 75:54 left putting away Hugo Pacheco's perfectly placed through ball.
Backed behind a stout defensive backline, goalkeeper Emil Ludemann-Ravit improved to 2-1-0 in net denying all four shots faced.
