It turned out to be a white Christmas for parts of Kansas after all. Snow blanketed portions of the state into late Monday, especially in the northwest corner of the state. Interstate 70 is closed west of Goodland.

Snow is forecasted to continue in Central Kansas with up to an additional half-inch of the white stuff expected throughout Tuesday. A trace to two inches is expected overall.

Travel on I-70 is being impacted mostly west of Abilene with various reports of snow-covered or wet roads. Roads in Barton County are reported as snow-covered or partially covered. K-14 Highway north of Highway 4 and in Ellsworth County is reported as completely snow-covered.

Safety experts encourage drivers to leave a little extra time to allow for the conditions. Keep a full task take, keep the windows clear, and slow down. Bridges may be extra icy.
