MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota’s Sonny Gray and Kansas City’s Zack Greinke left Sunday’s game with injuries, leaving their teams to wonder how much time each will miss. Gray cruised and was backed by Gio Urshela’s three-run homer before leaving in the seventh inning because of right pectoral soreness during the Twins’ 7-3 win over the Royals on Sunday. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Gray felt minor pec tightness. Kansas City manager Mike Matheny said Greinke has elbow/flexor issues. Gio Urshela hit a three-run homer for the Twins.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Corbin Burnes tossed seven shutout innings and Jace Peterson hit a three-run homer to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to an 8-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Lorenzo Cain and Rowdy Tellez also homered for the Brewers. Milwaukee has won four of six and stretched its road record to 13-10. Burnes is the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner and passed the 10-strikeout mark for the fourth game in a row with 11. He allowed just two hits. Miles Mikolas got the loss for the Cardinals. St. Louis first baseman Paul Goldschmidt extended his hitting streak to 20 games with a single in the ninth inning.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Jimmy Crooks belted a three-run homer, Cade Horton and two relievers limited Texas to four hits with 16 strikeouts and third-seeded Oklahoma beat the fifth-seeded Longhorns 8-1 in the championship game of the Big 12 Tournament. With their pitchers dominating, the Sooners captured their third tournament title with an eight-run third inning. Oklahoma used three walks and five hits to take control. Big 12 Player of the Year Ivan Melendez blasted his school-record 29th home run in the first inning for Texas. Oklahoma shortstop Peyton Graham was named Most Outstanding Player.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference each had four teams selected as regional sites for the NCAA baseball tournament. The hosts have locked up spots in the national tournament. The rest of the 64-team field will be unveiled Monday. Each regional will be made up of four teams playing in a double-elimination format. All are scheduled from Friday through next Monday. Regional winners advance to best-of-three super regionals and those eight winners go on to the College World Series in Omaha beginning June 17. Tennessee is expected to be the No. 1 overall seed.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma is back to try to defend its national championship at the Women’s College World Series. The top-seeded Sooners beat Central Florida in Super Regional games on Friday and Saturday to qualify and will face Northwestern in their World Series opener Thursday in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma has won four of the past eight national titles under coach Patty Gasso and beat Florida State to win it all last year. Oklahoma’s biggest star — slugger Jocelyn Alo — is the reigning USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and the Division I career home run leader. Northwestern rallied to beat Arizona State 8-6 in Game 3 of their Super Regional on Sunday night to set up the matchup with the Sooners.

MIAMI (AP) — Jayson Tatum scored 26 points and the Boston Celtics moved into the NBA Finals by holding off the Miami Heat, 100-96 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart each had 24 points for the Celtics, who led by 11 with three minutes remaining before the Heat put themselves in position to tie it. Jimmy Butler had 35 points for Miami.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Marcus Ericsson has become just the second Swede to win the Indianapolis 500, giving Chip Ganassi Racing its fifth victory in the race. A red flag near the end of the race gave runner-up Pato O’Ward and the other contenders almost 12 minutes on pit road to strategize how to catch Ericsson for the win. Ericsson kept the lead at the restart and coasted to victory under a yellow caution following a crash near the back of the pack.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Denny Hamlin won the longest and one of the wildest Coca-Cola 600s, holding off teammate Kyle Busch in overtime for his first victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Defending race champion Kyle Larson appeared ready to win the race in regulation but Chase Briscoe crashed trying to pass him with two laps to go in regulation. The race lasted more than 5 1/2 hours, took 413 laps, featured 18 caution flags and saw 16 drivers failing to finish.

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Steven Alker avoided mistakes down the stretch and closed with an 8-under 63 for a three-shot victory over Stephen Ames in the Senior PGA Championship, his third title this year and first major. Alker started the final round four shots behind and forged a three-way tie with Ames and Bernhard Langer on the back nine. Ames hit his drive into the water on the par-4 14th and had to scramble for bogey, allowing Alker to surge ahead.

LONDON (AP) — Miami punter Lou Hedley is among thousands of international student athletes who can’t earn income from their name, image and likeness on U.S. soil. Some are trekking home to do it. Hedley had to fly 13,000 miles to western Australia to cash in on his name. Nebraska basketball player Jaz Shelley also made a trip home to Australia for so-called “NIL” deals. Foreign athletes at U.S. colleges are finding the NIL waters tricky to navigate, with mixed messages about what’s OK.
