Stafford County public hearing for childcare facility in Macksville set for Aug. 19

Stafford County will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 8:30 a.m. at the Stafford County Annex, 210 E. 3rd Ave. in St. John, for the purpose of considering an application to be submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce for Small Cities Community Development Block Grant funds under the Community Facilities category.

A specific project to be discussed is construction of a new childcare facility located at 309 N. Main St. in Macksville. The estimated project cost is $509,500.00, with the grant request for $420,000.00 of the project cost and a local match of $89,500.00 from private County funds.

Other project proposals introduced at the public hearing will be considered. Oral and written comments will be recorded and become a part of Stafford County’s CDBG Citizen Participation Plan.
