
The Great Bend Panthers continued their strong start to the 2022 season Friday by taking both games of a Western Athletic Conference double header at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Panthers rallied to take game one 7-4 before dismissing the Redskins 10-1 in game two.
In game one, the Panthers trailed 4-0 entering the sixth inning before exploding for seven runs in the bottom half of the inning.
In game two, Chayse Gruber improved to 3-0 on the season by pitching six innings while striking out 3. Gruber has not allowed an earned run in 15-innings so far this season with 20 strikeouts.
Great Bend improved to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in WAC competition while Liberal fell to 0-5 and 2-5.
The Panthers will take a five game winning streak into Tuesday's road double header at Hays.
