Glennis Durand, age 94

Glennis Margaret Durand, 94, died Feb. 14, 2023, at Town Hall Estates in Arlington, Texas. Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Emil & Helen (Remley) Pflughoeft. In 1946, she graduated from Hoisington High School. She married the love of her life, George Leroy Durand, on July 20, 1947.

Glennis lived in Great Bend and was a dedicated secretary for the General Adjustment Bureau for more than 30 years. Her passions in life included being a wife and mother, crocheting, crafting, collecting antiques, preserving family memorabilia, and spending time with friends & family. Mrs. Durand was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, local square-dancing club, and an active participant in the American Legion with her husband.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kathy Hancock and husband Randy of Arlington, Texas, and Colleen Stevenson of Rockledge, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kelly Schmitt and wife Kim of Wichita, Dawn Buhrkuhl and husband Joey of Arlington, Monica Dow and husband John of Northlake, Texas, Tiffany Mansell and husband Shane of Arlington, Mark Stevenson and wife Michelle of Hanover, Md., and Michelle Popilek and husband Scott of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine “Daisy” Briley & Patricia L. Resner.

Glennis is coming home to rest next to her George. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Great Bend Cemetery with the Reverend Kathleen Luke presiding. Visitation with the family will be available following the service.
