Kathleen A. (O’Connor) Suppes – age 61 passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Hays Medical Center.
She was born November 11, 1961, in Concordia, Kansas to Earl Eugene and Catherine Ann (Schneweis) O’Connor. She married Patrick Suppes and into his family of five children on November 21, 1997, in Olmitz, Kansas.
She was an LPN and worked at area nursing homes and hospitals for over 35 years in Victoria, Hays, Russell, Great Bend, Larned and LaCrosse. Kathleen started her nursing career as a CAN working with her mother taking care of the nuns in Concordia, and retired early in 2018. She grew up in Concordia and attended Concordia High School.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society in Olmitz. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, making jewelry and beading jewelry. She had a great love of music, and
enjoyed playing her piano. She was a strong in her Catholic Faith, and continuously prayed for others.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick Suppes, of the home; her children, Amy Perry and husband, Vince, Ellsworth, KS; Julie Hoverson and husband, John, Smithville, MO; Christy Baalmann and husband, Mark, LaCrosse, KS; James Suppes and wife, Brittany, Smith Center, KS; Matthew Suppes and wife, Sharon, Baldwin City, KS; her grandchildren, Christian and Aiden Suppes; Brooklyn Perry; Jailee and Jayden Hoverson; Johannah, Jace and Jodie Baalmann; Elsie and Emmett Suppes, Abigail Suppes; her mother-in-law, Elsie Suppes, Locust Grove Nursing Home, LaCrosse, KS; her brothers, Pat O’Connor, Salina, KS; Michael O’Connor and wife, Janet, Salina, KS; Brian O’Connor and wife, Terri, Concordia, KS; her sister, Colleen Harris and husband, Bill, Memphis, TN; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Catherine O’Connor; and her father-in-law, Julius J. Suppes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfiefer, Kansas with Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer, Kansas.
A vigil service will be at 6:45 P.M. Friday, June 23, 2023, followed by a St. Ann’s Altar Society rosary at 7:00 P.M. Friday, both at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays and from 8:30 to 9:00 A.M. Saturday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer.
