In 2016, the Central Kansas Catbackers created a scholarship program for local students that plan to attend Kansas State University as freshmen in the fall. The committee awards 5 - $1,000 scholarships each year.
The following five recipients were chosen for a 2025-2026 Central Kansas Catbacker Scholarship:
● Heidi Brauer, graduate of Ellinwood High School. Heidi is the daughter of Alan and Kara Brauer. Heidi will pursue a degree in History.
● Nathan Hammeke, graduate of Ellinwood High School. Nathan is the son of Mathew and Amy Hammeke. Nathan will pursue a degree in Milling Science.
● Reese King, graduate of Great Bend High School. Reese is the daughter of Ted and Hillary King. Reese will pursue a degree in Biology.
● Josephine Mazouch, graduate of Great Bend High School. Josephine is the daughter of Stephen Mazouch and Shawn and Teresa Powelson. Josephine will pursue a degree in Kinesiology.
● Jason Robinson, graduate of Hoisington High School. Jason is the son of Crista Robinson. Jason will pursue a degree in Geology.
