BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Kevin McCullar Jr. scored 21 points, including four crucial free throws in the final minute, and Hunter Dickinson had 17 points and 14 rebounds as No. 2 Kansas rallied in the second half for a 75-71 win at Indiana on Saturday. The Jayhawks trailed by as many as 13 and did not take their first lead of the game until Dickinson scored in the post to make it 62-61 with 4:53 remaining. Loyer was 5 of 9 on 3-pointers and Smith was 4 of 7 while falling one point shy of his career high. Zach Edey added 22 points and nine rebounds, with the 7-foot-4 All-American handling the middle while Smith and Loyer supplied the outside firepower in the Indy Classic. FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Emanuel Miller scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half, Micah Peavy had the third triple-double in program history and TCU rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Arizona State 79-59 at the Coast-to-Coast Challenge. Peavy had 13 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and 10 assists with just one turnover. Jameer Nelson Jr. added 11 points for TCU. The Horned Frogs, who missed 10 consecutive field-goal attempts early in the game and made just five of their first 20, shot 54% the rest of the way. Peavy hit with a 3-pointer to spark a 23-4 run that gave TCU a 22-point lead with 7 minutes remaining after Nelson made a 3 and a layup — both assisted by Peavy — to cap the spurt.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Pop Isaacs matched a season best with 19 points to go with a career-high seven assists and Texas Tech cruised past Vanderbilt 76-54 in the Coast-to-Coast Challenge. Isaacs was 6 of 16 from the floor, made three 3-pointers and has scored in double figures in seven games this season. (AP) — Josh Cohen scored 19 points and Robert Davis Jr. hit six 3-pointers and finished with 18 points to help Massachusetts beat West Virginia 87-79 at the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. West Virginia's Akok Akok threw down a dunk to make it 62-all with 6:34 to go but Cohen answered with a layup 14 seconds later and UMass led the rest of the way. The Minutemen made 15 of 18 from the free-throw line in the final 3 minutes to seal it. Kerr Kriisa and Quinn Slazinski scored 20 points apiece for West Virginia and Noah Farrakhan added 15.
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Rivaldo Soares scored 13 points and No. 11 Oklahoma overcame a sluggish start to roll past Green Bay 81-47 in the Sooners’ final game before a showdown against No. 9 North Carolina. Otega Oweh added 12 points and John Hugley IV had 11 for Oklahoma, which is off to its best start since opening 12-0 during the 2015-16 season — when the Sooners reached the Final Four behind Buddy Hield. Oklahoma never trailed Green Bay but struggled to pull away at first. The Sooners hadn’t yet made a 3-pointer and led only 21-20 when coach Porter Moser called a timeout with 5:38 left in the opening half. They responded with a 15-0 run and led 36-20 at halftime.
HOUSTON (AP) — Emanuel Sharp scored 21 points, L.J. Cryer added 17 and No. 4 Houston held off Texas A&M 70-66. DETROIT (AP) — Tyson Walker scored 18 of his 25 points in the first half to help build a huge lead and Michigan State went on to stun No. 6 Baylor 88-64 Saturday. The Spartans had a breakout performance with a 30-point lead in the first half, looking like the the team respected enough to be ranked No. 4 in preseason Top 25. They had lost two straight and three of four games. The Bears had a shot-clock violation on the opening possession and seconds later, Walker made a 3-pointer to set the tone for the game.
DETROIT (AP) — Jared Goff matched a career high with five touchdown passes, three to rookie tight end Sam LaPorta, and the Detroit Lions routed the Denver Broncos 42-17. The NFC North-leading Lions could clinch a playoff berth for the first time since the 2016 if other results go their way the rest of this weekend. Goff threw three TD passes in the second quarter as the Lions took a 21-0 lead at halftime. Russell Wilson and the Broncos had just 75 yards of offense in the first half. The Broncos fell to 7-7 and their chances of making the playoffs took a hit.
CINCINNATI (AP) — Tee Higgins made a savvy goal-line move to score a touchdown and force overtime and Evan McPherson made a 29-yard field goal to seal a 27-24 victory for Cincinnati over the Minnesota Vikings, keeping the Bengals’ playoff hopes alive even with star quarterback Joe Burrow out for the season. Higgins caught a 21-yard pass from Jake Browning with under a minute remaining and pulled off an acrobatic move to stretch the ball over the goal line and tie the game. In overtime, a 44-yard catch by Tyler Boyd helped set up a chip shot from McPherson.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Gardner Minshew threw three touchdown passes and the Indianapolis Colts rushed for 170 yards, improving their playoff prospects with a 30-13 win over the sagging Pittsburgh Steelers. Minshew was 18 of 28 for 215 yards and matched his career high for TD passes while leading a Colts offense lacking its usual complement of playmakers. The Colts have won five of six to improve to 8-6 and temporarily moved a half-game ahead of three teams for the AFC’s seventh and final playoff spot. The Steelers dropped their third straight to fall to 7-7 and into last place in the rugged AFC North.
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Behren Morton completed 27 of 43 passes for 256 yards and three first-half touchdowns, leading Texas Tech to a 34-14 victory over California in the Independence Bowl. Tahj Brooks ran for 98 yards and a score as the Red Raiders shook off a terrible start. They shut out the Golden Bears for the final three quarters to win the 47th edition of college football’s 11th-oldest bowl game. Texas Tech led 24-14 at halftime and Brooks, the nation’s fourth-leading rusher, scored the only touchdown of the second half on a 7-yard run in the third quarter. It was the third straight bowl win for the Red Raiders, who fumbled the opening kickoff. Fernando Mendoza then rifled a 25-yard touchdown pass to Monroe Young to give Cal a quick lead.
