
At approximately 11:20 p.m. on July 18, the Great Bend Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the 1800 block of Tyler Street in Great Bend. Fire units arrived to find a single-family residence with smoke coming from the eaves.
Fire crews began an initial fire attack and were met with heavy smoke, fire and high heat conditions. Crews were able to make a quick initial attack to extinguish the fire while a search was completed of the residence to ensure everyone was out of the structure. Occupants of the residence were not home at the time of the fire.
The fire was investigated by an investigator with the Great Bend Fire Department and remains under investigation at this time but appears to be accidental in nature. The residence has significant fire, heat, smoke and water damage throughout.
