City officials have selected lights to be installed along the walking
trail at Veterans Memorial Park in Great Bend. Interim City Administrator Logan
Burns said the city is now looking at the availability to see when the lights
can be ordered.
Improving the lighting around the walking path is part of a list of projects
from the .15% sales tax fund. The sales tax increase was approved by a vote in
November 2021, and funds from the tax started arriving last June.
Burns said the Great Bend City Council might have to sit down for a work
session to figure out the logistics of accomplishing the list of projects.
"We'll look at completing the lights at Vets," said Burns. "We'll also look to complete a splash pad, with a location to be determined. We want to do skate park repairs, dog park improvements and Brit Spaugh Park projects."
The master plan of projects set aside $75,000 for the lighting project at Vets.
Early estimates, projected the .15% quality of life sales tax to generate
$567,000 in 2023.
