The Fort Hays State women's basketball team moved up in both national polls released Tuesday (Jan. 4), climbing to third in the latest WBCA DII Coaches Poll and moving up to 11th in the D2SIDA Media Poll.
The Tigers picked up an additional 27 points in the coaches poll to move into a tie for third with Lander at 495 points. Nebraska-Kearney moved up one spot to ninth, while Missouri Western entered the rankings in 24th this week.
Fort Hays State added two points to its total in the media poll, moving past one school to jump to 11th. UNK is the only other conference school in the media poll, up one spot to fourth this week.
Fort Hays State is one of two teams that has been in the top five of the coaches poll all season (Drury). The Tigers were fourth in the preseason poll before moving up to the top spot for three weeks. FHSU was fifth in the last two releases before climbing two spots this week.
This is the first time the Tigers have been third in the coaches poll since the final regular season poll of the 2018-19 season (3/1/19). Fort Hays State is 15-3 all-time when playing as the third-ranked team in the country and 122-32 all-time when ranked in the WBCA DII Coaches Poll.
Drury and Texas A&M-Commerce are in first and second, respectively, in both national polls.
Fort Hays State will return to Gross Memorial Coliseum to host three games in a seven-day span beginning Thursday (Jan. 6) when the Tigers host Central Missouri beginning at 5:30 p.m.
