Rosa Burroughs, 86, passed away May 9, 2024, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg, Kansas. She was born on August 10, 1937, in Devine, Texas, to Juan and Maria (Munoz) Guajardo. On November 18, 1958, she married Everett Burroughs in Somerset, Texas. He passed on July 6, 1994.
Since coming from Texas in 1959, Rosa was a Kansas resident, having lived in Hutchinson, Ellinwood, and Lindsborg, with most of her time in Great Bend. She was a homemaker, taking care of her and other’s children. Rosa loved people, baking, sewing, and attending craft shows with her husband.
Survivors include son, Everett Burroughs, Jr. and significant other Tracy Templeton of Great Bend; four daughters, Peggy Yahne and husband Bruce of Lindsborg, Mary Burroughs and significant other Clark Feaster of Syracuse, Teresa Alston of Great Bend, and Angella Guajardo and wife Tonia of Avon, Indiana; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren with one on the way; two great great grandchildren with one on the way; brother, Salvador Guajardo and wife Mary of Greeley, Colorado; three sisters, Margaret Evans of Devine, Texas, Lucy Ramirez of Waverly, Iowa, and Virginia Loera of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Teresa and Rita Guajardo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two grandchildren, Amanda Wheeler and Nicholas Curtice; six brothers, Juan, Jose, Cruz, Samuel, Daniel, and Antonio Guajardo; sister, Esther Deer; and son-in-law, Terry Wheeler.
Visitation will take place noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Singleton presiding. Interment will follow at Lakin Commanche Cemetery, Ellinwood, Kansas.
