Following an unbeaten-opening weekend, Barton Community College men's soccer goalkeeper Pedro Lisboa has been named the week 1 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I Goalkeeper of the Week.
Lisboa helped the seventh-ranked Cougars to a pair of season-opening victories over North Iowa Area Community College and No. 9 Otero College, surrendering just one goal over 180 minutes of action.
The sophomore opened the season in Barton's 2-0 shutout of NIACC before turning away five of six shots faced the following day against ninth-ranked Otero. Lisboa's five saves helped keep the Cougars within striking distance before Barton rallied from a one-goal deficit for the 2-1 victory.
Lisboa also contributed on the offensive end against the Rattlers, recording his first collegiate assists on Rafael Calmon's game tying goal.
Netting his second career weekly distinction, the sophomore netminder carried his strong start into Wednesday's action, posting another clean sheet with five denials as Barton defeated Western Nebraska Community College 1-0, marking his second through three matches.
Now 3-0-0 on the year, Lisboa and the Cougars will continue their season-long five-game homestand Saturday afternoon against Lamar Community College with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff from the Cougar Soccer Complex.
