A day off and a return to Lawson-Biggs Field would be just what the No. 23 Barton Community College baseball team needed as the Cougars pounded out 29 hits and 30 runs in picking up a pair of run rule victories over Butler Community College 14-4 in five and 16-3 in seven innings on Saturday afternoon.
Bouncing back from a pair of road losses on Thursday, Barton salvages a split of the four-game series with the Grizzlies, improving to 12-4 in league play and 20-8 overall to remain two games back of first place Colby. Dropping the final two games of the series, Butler slides to 9-7 in conference and 17-13 overall.
