Great Bend Post
The last time the Great Bend Bat Cats took the field was July 15th when they lost to the Cheney Diamond Dawgs 9-4 for a split of the four game series with the eventual Sunflower League Champions. But then, the Wichita Lobos forfeited a four game series to the Bat Bats. Liberal then cancelled the final game of the season as Great Bend's regular season came to an end with a record of 30-11.
Now 2 ½ weeks later, the Cats return to action Wednesday when they begin play in the Summer Ball Showdown in Goddard, an event in it's second year that General Manager Roger Ward agreed to play in before the summer season began.
There are 20-teams who will begin play Wednesday at the Genisis Sports complex and the Bat Cats have drawn the Dirtbag Baseball Club for a opening game at 4:00 p.m. Thursday the team will take on the Wichita Black Sox.
All the teams will play two games before single elimination games begin on Friday.
