The city-wide cleanup is approaching in Great Bend, and city
officials want to make sure all citizens have the help they need to dump their
items for free.
Several construction-sized dumpsters will be stationed at the Sunflower
Diversified Services parking lot at 5605 10th Street from Sept. 24 - Oct. 2.
The site will be staffed with city workers to help unload citizens’ items, but
City Administrator Kendal Francis wanted the public to be aware that there is
an option for volunteers to assist anyone unable to make the trip to the
cleanup site.
"If anyone knows someone that will be needing assistance, they can call," said Francis. "I'll get those scheduled, and we'll put together a route for volunteers to help assist with that."
Anyone needing assistance loading or transporting items to dispose, should
contact Francis at 620-793-4111 or email kfrancis@greatbendks.net.
Francis estimated the cost to the city for the cleanup will be between $15,000 - $20,000.
While no household hazardous waste will be taken, tires, trash, metal,
mattresses and appliances will be accepted.
