LAWRENCE, Kan. - With football season just around the corner, Kansas football will host its 2nd Annual Lawrence Kickoff Party presented by the Drive to Zero Coalition and Kansas Department of Transportation, Folds of Honor as well as adidas.
New this year, the event will take place at South Park on Mass St. on Saturday, August 24 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., coinciding with the Downtown Lawrence Welcome Back Jayhawks Weekend where you will be able to shop inside and outside at participating stores and enjoy various street performers throughout the day from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Admission to the all-day event is free.
The Lawrence Football Kickoff Party is the last of three football kickoff events, the first one taking place in Wichita on August 6th and the second one taking place at Corinth Square in Prairie Village on August 16th.
The Kickoff Party marks less than a week prior to Kansas' season-opener against Lindenwood and will feature live music from the Mikey Needleman Band, tailgating games, food trucks, inflatables, face paintings, balloon artist and other activities. This family-friendly event will be one you don't want to miss out on.
Fans will have the opportunity to hear from Kansas football head coach Lance Leipold, Director of Athletics Travis Goff and more on a main stage built on the street towards the south end of South Park. Kansas fans will also have the opportunity to shop the latest KU merchandise within a Rally House pop-up shop.
