
The University of Kansas Health System Great Bend Campus hospital has received a 4-star designation from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The CMS rating goes from 1 star to 5 stars and is determined by summarizing 5 groups of measure including mortality rates, safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience ratings and how the hospital provides timely and effective care.
“This 4-star designation from CMS is an acknowledgement of our pledge to provide high-quality, safe care for our patients,” said John Worden, Great Bend Campus administrator. “We are proud to have reached this milestone.”
This recognition places the Great Bend hospital among the top 30% of hospitals in the country and follows Vizient’s recent recognition of the hospital as a top performer in the 2024 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Study. Great Bend Campus was recognized by Vizient as No. 8 of 28 top performers in the community hospital cohort, which includes 364 community hospitals, for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality care.
