The KFC restaurant on 10th Street is back open for business.
The restaurant - which closed about four months ago - has new owners, Denis and his son, Cameron Schoenhofer. The younger Schoenhofer says his family has been operating KFC restaurants for a long time.
"I’m a third generation. My father’s been in it for over 30 years,” Schoenhofer noted. “My grandfather was in it before him, was actually, I believe, the first franchisee in the state of Kansas...if not, for sure in Wichita for KFC.”
Schoenhofer says he is looking forward to operating a business in the Golden Belt.
"I’ve just got a good team,” Schoenhofer commented. “We ended up hiring over 30 people within about two weeks. That just took off and surprised me as well because right now all you hear all over the news is ‘we can’t find help.’ We opened the doors up and we found help.”
Schoenhofer says his family owns 36 KFC restaurants in five states. Starting sometime next month, the Great Bend KFC will be offering delivery service through DoorDash.
