Great Bend man arrested on multiple charges stemming from domestic violence incident

A Great Bend man was arrested  after a brief standoff Thursday evening on charges related to a domestic violence incident. A release from the Barton County Sheriff's Office states Ulises Andujo-Rayos was book on charges of aggravated battery, domestic battery, rape, and criminal damage to property.

At approximately 8 p.m., deputies were notified of a domestic violence incident that began on Anchor Way, just outside of the Great Bend city limits. Deputies were advised that the suspect had chased the victim in another vehicle and intentionally rammed the victim's vehicle at least once.

Deputies located the victim at a separate location where she had fled and began interviewing her. She was transported to the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus for evaluation and treatment of injuries sustained during the incident.

During the investigation, deputies learned the female victim had been raped shortly before Andujo-Rayos used his vehicle to to ram the victim's vehicle. The victim was able to escape from a bedroom window in an attempt to flee Andujo-Rayos.

Deputies responded to the address on Anchor Way, where they learned Andujo-Rayos had barricaded himself inside the residence and was armed with a knife. Deputies established contact with Andujo-Rayos, and after negotiations, convinced him to surrender without further incident.
