Great Bend Fire personnel recognized for action at industrial accident

Tuesday night, Great Bend Fire Chief Luke McCormick took time during the Great Bend City Council meeting to recognize fire department staff that responded to a challenging scene in August.

On Aug. 23, ambulance personnel was dispatched to Fuller Industries to respond to an industrial accident. McCormick was pleased with his team’s response to help the severely injured employee at Fuller.

"As part of that response, quick action and medical care, the outcome made a huge difference on an individual in our community," said McCormick.

53-year-old Leo Sobba was transported to The University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Campus by ambulance.

Along with Great Bend Fire Department ambulance personnel, the Great Bend Police Department and Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded.
