Great Bend Interim City Administrator Logan Burns said construction for the new police station is set to be finished by Aug. 17. The generator install will take place on Sept. 8. Once the install is complete, city officials will do a lookover of the building and the Great Bend Police Department and Municipal Court staff can start moving into their new space.
McCownGordon Construction is now working mostly on the interior of the
police station at the southwest corner of the 12th Street and Baker
Avenue intersection.
"Painting has begun on the court side, and they're also spraying on the exposed ceilings," said Burns. "The judge's stand will be arriving. They did start tearing asphalt out."
The $8.8 million project will nearly triple the space of the current station on
Williams Street. The .10% sales tax increase approved in 2021 will go toward
bond debt for the police station.
