The curb and gutter repair project on 10th Street in Great Bend gets underway Monday, Aug. 15. Based on their condition, several areas will be improved from Kiowa Road to Harrison Street.

Great Bend Public Works Director Jason Cauley said approximately 3,000 linear feet of curb and gutter will be repaired.

"There will be a minimal amount of sidewalk repaired too," said Cauley. "Sidewalk that is so bad that it could prohibit us from doing the curb and gutter. It will be sections of curb and gutter that we deemed necessary to be replaced."

Once started, the project is expected to take approximately 60 days for the completion depending on weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Cauley added L&M Contractors will occupy the outside lane during the repairs.

"We're thinking that as the contractor progresses, it will just be sections they occupy," said Cauley. "It won't be everything from Kiowa to Harrison closed. It will just be that section of lane as they work on that section of curb and gutter."

L&M’s approved bid for the project was $147,425. Great Bend transferred funds the last two years for curb and gutter improvements.
