Carol J. Patterson, 87, passed away April 12, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Wichita.
She was born Dec. 31, 1936, in Great Bend, the daughter of Raymond and Viola Boese Ellis.
A lifetime area resident, she was an administrative assistant at Larned State Hospital where she retired after 29 years. She was a member of Rozel United Methodist Church, various Bridge Groups and the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed singing in her church growing up, playing the steal guitar and drums, word search puzzles, reading, computer games and playing Mahjong.
Survivors include: two daughters, Angela (Michael) McThomas, Andover, New Jersey, Tamara Patterson, Wichita; one brother, Dan (Becky) Ellis, Great Bend; one Daughter-in-law, Kathy Patterson, Larned; three grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Detherage, Jess McThomas and Jordan Hawk; two great grandchildren, Courtney (Carson) Kettelhake, Jaiden Detherage; one great-great granddaughter, Daisy Kettelhake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Patterson, and a grandson, Shawn Valentine.
Graveside services will be announced at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
