The Russell Community Impact Award Committee is pleased to announce Mike and Kathy McAdoo as the distinguished recipients of the September 2025 Russell Community Impact Award. This award recognizes individuals, businesses, or organizations whose exceptional contributions have significantly enriched the fabric of the Russell community.
Mike and Kathy are a team in every sense. Their efforts to support the Russell Play Park project, the Russell Youth trap team, and our local Farmers' Market all speak to their willingness to invest in our community and its future. Together, they have prioritized projects that provide for the betterment of our community, never asking for anything in return. Where one is leading, the other is always in the background, providing support along the way. Thank you, Mike and Kathy, for your dedication to the Russell community and all of your efforts to ensure the success of our community
As the winners of the Russell Community Impact Award, Mike and Kathy received a $250 donation to the non-profit of their choice. Mike and Kathy chose the Russell County Food Pantry as the recipient. Mayor Jim Cross and KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio Representative Travis Hendrix presented Mike and Kathy with a $250 check at the Nov. 4 city council meeting.

Additionally, nomination forms are available for pickup at the City Building, 133 W. 8th Street, or KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio, 1984 N. Main Street.
