Starting his second term this past January, Great Bend City Council member Davis Jimenez will seek election as mayor this fall. With the filing deadline approaching June 1, Jimenez is the only person to file their intent to run for the position.

With a vacant seat in Ward 3, Jimenez was appointed to the council in February 2021. Jimenez won an uncontested race two years later and was sworn into office for a two-year term this past January.

Outside of a few years living in California as a teenager, Jimenez has spent his life in Great Bend and is an Army Reserve member.

Current mayor Cody Schmidt has yet to announce or file his intent to seek a third term. Schmidt won a write-in election for mayor in 2019 and then won an uncontested race the following election in 2021.
