The Hoisington Chamber of Commerce has seen fewer people show up for their weekly coffee hours and will be transitioning to a new schedule.
The
coffee hours are a way to get to know the community, meet new people and find
out what’s going on in the area. Hosted at a business or a different location in Hoisington
each Thursday, Chamber Director Karen Baldyga said coffee hours will take place
twice a month starting in 2024.
"I think it will make people more interested in coming," said Baldyga. "They'll be able to hear, not necessarily the gossip of the week, but actually what's going on in Hoisington for that month."
Baldyga said for the rest of year, there might be weeks without a host and
there are no plans to fill those spots. Starting in 2024, the coffee hours will
take place on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 9:30 a.m. If there
is a need for a special coffee hour, outside of those dates, the chamber will
let the public know in advance.
"It's hard to get away from your job," said Baldyga. "They just can't get away every week. This way, if we do it twice a month, they're able to take that time and come to the Chamber coffee."
