
On April 10, at about 7:30 p.m., a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle in the 2600 block of Railroad Avenue, just south of Great Bend, for a traffic infraction. During the course the traffic stop, the deputy recognized Heather Holmes, age 42, in the vehicle. The Sheriff’s deputy was aware Holmes had active warrants for her arrest. Holmes was taken into custody without incident.
Sheriff’s Office K9 Menta and handler were called to the scene. The dog indicated the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The backseat passenger was identified as Shawn Cundiff, age 48. Cundiff was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cundiff and Holmes are both Larned residents.
Holmes and Cundiff were transported to the Barton County Jail without incident. Holmes was booked on warrants for contempt of court and parole violation as well as possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She is being held on a $50,000 bond. Cundiff was booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia he has since posted a $10,000 bond and was released.
