The Barton Community College women's cross-country team opened the 2024 season Friday evening participating in the annual Terry Masterson Twilight Classic held at Hutchinson's Fun Valley.
The Cougars finished 6th overall with a 5-person crew in being led by a trio of Cougars within eleven seconds of each other on the 3-mile course.
Shone Walters led the way with a 22nd placing overall in the 55-participant field by crossing in 22nd at 20.33.68. Seven seconds and one spot later Alissandra Jackson clocked a 20:41.52 with Lakota Schultz the next to cross in 25th three seconds later at 20:44.59.
In 47th was Lainie Sleichter at 23:50.48 with Makiya Mosley completing in 32:50.52 to finish 55th.
Following a two week break the Cougars will be back in action Sept. 13 at the Fort Hays State University Tiger Open.
