Although Great Bend's softball season ended earlier than many hoped, the team still dominated much of the regular season, and is being recognized for their performance.
Sophomore pitcher Chayla Prendergast worked the bulk of the innings for the Panthers this year, leading the team to an undefeated WAC record and earning the honor of being named WAC Player of the Year. She pitched 121.2 innings for Great Bend, logging a 15-4 record with a 2.99 ERA and 123 strikeouts. She was also a steady presence at the plate, hitting for a .310 average with two home runs and 14 RBIs.
At the head of the undefeated conference run was head coach Carrie Minton, who earned coach of the year honors for the Conference. The Panthers dominated in their run, outscoring opponents by an average of 12.75 to 3.
Other Panthers on the All-WAC Team were senior DeShawna Bryant, junior Alyssa McCauley, and sophomore Kya Behr. Members of the second team were juniors Kamryn Koelsch and Katherine Mazouch.
