Daniel M. Hines

Daniel M. Hines, 71, passed away Jan. 16, 2021 at Ellinwood District Hospital in Ellinwood, KS. Born to Leo & Eleanor (Hoffman) Hines on July 29, 1949 in Great Bend, KS he was a lifetime resident of Ellinwood. Dan graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1967 later attending Butler College and Ft. Hays State. He married Susan Panning in 1971 they later divorced. He married Kathy Hammeke on Nov. 5th, 1993, she survives. Dan previously worked at Farrell, Doonan Trucking, and Dicks Engine. He also retired from the City of Ellinwood, Ellinwood Fire Dept. and Ellinwood EMS where he served his community for over 20 years. Dan also loved farming, John Deere equipment, and his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Survivors include wife, Kathy Hines; children, Paul Michael Hines, Amy Kubick; grandchildren, Cole Kubick, Blake Kubick, Gavin Kubick; sisters, Joyce (Joe) Schulte, Theresa (Gene) Townsed, and Paula Biles.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Wed., Jan. 20th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood.  Visitation will be 11AM-7PM, Jan. 19th at St. Joseph Catholic Church with family receiving friends from 5-7PM and parish rosary/vigil service at 7 PM.
