Cecilia Ann Schneweis, 92, died July 4, 2022, at Country Place Senior Living of Hoisington, Kansas. She was born September 20, 1929, on the family farm in Redwing, Kansas, the daughter of Adolph and Carrie (Linsner) Demel. Cecilia graduated from Odin High School in 1947.
On June 1, 1948, she married Raymond A. Schneweis, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin, Kansas. Together they farmed and raised eight children. Cherishing her time as a homemaker and farm wife, her love was shown in her gardening, her many chickens, her exceptional cooking and baking, and mostly just her beloved family times together. Ray preceded her in death on April 1, 2009.
Cecilia was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was an active member for many years in the Altar Society, first in Odin and later in Hoisington.
Survivors include; four sons, Ron Schneweis of Hoisington, Kevin Schneweis of Hoisington, Bill Schneweis and wife Kitte of Monument, Colorado, Keith Schneweis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two daughters, Lois Ritterhouse and husband Bob of Albert, Kansas, and Mary Sell and husband Steve of Olathe; daughter-in-law, Kathy Mai and husband Jay of Great Bend; and son-in-law, Kent D. Nettleingham of Galatia; two brothers, Jerry Demel and wife Deanna of Westminster, Colorado, and Bill Demel of Arvada, Colorado; ten grandchildren; Kent L. Nettleingham and wife Trina, Sara Nettleingham-Prince and husband Ed, Brian Schneweis, Derek Schneweis and wife Sarah, Brandi McElhoes and husband Jacob, Nick Schneweis, Jason Sell, Jessica Cronenwett and husband J.C., Katie Schneweis, Mark Burchfiel and wife Pam; seven great grandchildren, Landon Burchfiel, Logan Burchfiel, Kendra Smith, Olivia Wright, Parker Pinks, Jackson Nettleingham, and Carter Nettleingham; and three great-great-grandchildren, Sophia Burchfiel, Remy Burchfiel, and Ivie Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gary Schneweis, daughter, Suzy Nettleingham, brother, Jim Demel, and three sisters, Evelyn Juno, Eleanor Reif, and Bernadine Moeder.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m., all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP. Burial will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Odin, Kansas.
